As we venture into a new year with new possibilities, the Community Church of God will be letting God’s word guide our way.Beginning January 1st, 2010, we will embark on “The Bible in 90 Days – Whole Church Challenge”.Our hope is that we, as an entire congregation, will be immersed in the Bible for the first 3 months of the New Year.I believe we will see a powerful renewal of our faith as we get back to the pure word of God.
Individual Commitment:This challenge begins with an individual commitment to read the Bible in 90 days.We will be providing a reading chart that will allow you to use your own Bible to take you through from cover to cover.The reading charts are available at the Welcome Center at the church or on our website.We will also offer the opportunity to purchase the special “Through the Bible in 90 Days” Bible.This is a thin line, NIV, Bible that will require you to read exactly 12 pages a day.
This will definitely require a commitment as well as personally adjusting your time to complete this life changing challenge.The reading chart will be divided by date so that if you find yourself getting behind, then just pick up the reading on the current day and then go back and catch up as you need to.The goal is to continue going through the Bible as a congregation.
Group effort:Along with you individual reading, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a J-Group (Journey Group).These J-Groups will help to encourage you, explore the reading together, give you tips for reading, and keep you accountable along the journey.You can pick up a group sign up card at the Welcome Center or on our website.Please fill it out and turn it in to the Welcome Center, Church office, or put it in the offering plate.
Many of us may be intimidated by this challenge, however, I believe that if we accept it and do our best to move through the word of God together during this 90 days, we will reap a blessing that will far exceed our apprehension.I hope you will give it a try and I urge everyone to be a part of a group.
Please begin praying now as we begin this journey together.I cannot think of a better way to begin the new year than being immersed in the Word.The possibilities are endless as to how this will change and enrich your life.So get ready, the challenge begins January 1, 2010!!!
